In addition to writing memoir, I also indulge in a little playwriting from time-to-time. There are subtle differences between a stage play and a screen play, but rather than bore you with details, I thought I would share my work.

The L.A. Café Plays are a series of 10 minute plays produced by the Ruskin Group Theatre in Santa Monica. When the pandemic shut live theatre down, we moved online for a few performances.

Here is the May 2021 installment where I pulled double-duty, directing a play written by Ken Levine and writing a play myself. Ken’s starts around 16:00 and mine follows around 27:00.

We’ll be back in the theatre this month and I’ll be writing on Sunday. Writers are given a theme and the headshots of two actors at 9:00am. We have until noon to write the script when the actors arrive to begin rehearsing. Curtain goes up at 7:30pm and comes down the same night.

While the performances are a little rough, you have to admire the courage of these actors to step in front of an audience with so little preparation. I’m in awe. I hope you enjoy!
