They Lied!

As we ponder the implications of the opinion we knew was coming, all I can keep thinking about is THE LIES.

The GOP has become better skilled at lying than the worst conmen in history. They aren’t even good at it. We all know they’re lying, but they still get away with it. Idiots like Susan Collins say they are shocked that people like Neil Gorsuch, Amy “Coathanger” Barret, and Brett Kavanaugh, a man credibly accused of attempted rape, would lie to get a seat on the Supreme Court. Yet, that’s been the GOP game plan for 50 years. Can I hear a collective, “DUH!” Susan Collins is either the stupidest woman alive, or just as big a liar as the three appointees she helped put on the court.

Speaking of which, Mitch McConnell lied, cheated and stole to get these contemptible liars on the court in the first place. The lied through his teeth then just smiled like a Cheshire cat. Not even a trace of shame.

Since when is lying a valued characteristics we want in our leaders? We used to run people out of office for lying. Now, it’s a job requirement. It’s no longer a bug. It’s a feature.

I guess in the era of THE BIG LIE, the bigger the liar the better.

I called the Supreme Court to express my disgust at their tactics, only to get a recording. The disembodied voice reminded me they were open Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm. Despite calling before 3:30pm local time, they promptly hung up on me. Even their machines are liars.

How are we to function in such a society going forward? Is mendacity going to destroy us before our own greed, corruption and vice? Or, will people finally learn from the lessons of history and stop electing these bastards to office?

I’m afraid to find out.
