Wow! You forgot to tackle global warming, peace in the Middle East and world hunger too. While you make an impassioned plea for widespread changes in our society, you're falling into the trap of sacrificing the good for the perfect. Change comes gradually, sometimes painstakingly slow. Just look at how difficult it is to get even the smallest movement on gun control after a series of horrific mass shootings. In order to address the problems in our society, we need to focus on steps we can take which will lead to larger improvements. Eliminating the EC will lead to better choices for our presidential elections. We might see more candidates enter the race because the results will be based on a popular vote, not political maneuvering by the political parties to see which candidates plays better in a specific battleground state. Eliminating the EC will bring more voters to the polls because now their votes will count in the final tally. And, more importantly, eliminating the EC will prevent the kind of corruption we saw in 2020 when the incumbent, desperate to remain in power, went to swing states to try to pressure election officials to "find" votes. Eliminating the EC won't solve all the world's problems, but it will go a long way toward fixing some of the most pressing.
